Matthijs is an experienced litigation attorney. His approach is concise and decisive.
Matthijs advises and litigates on directors’ and officers’ liability and in other fields, and is specialized in financing and securities law.
In addition to his civil (litigation) practice, Matthijs has a particular interest in bankruptcy law, and regularly serves as receiver and administrator. Based on his background as a receiver, Matthijs is called upon to offer support in restructuring and rationalisation cases. Matthijs also lectures on insolvency law-related subjects and has successfully completed the following post-academic specialist courses:
- CPO Insolvency law for receivers;
- Grotius Insolvency law (Insolad);
- Financial Economics for Insolvency Lawyers (Erasmus University).
Finally, Matthijs teaches in property law at the University of Tilburg, and is a member of the association of specialist Insolvency Lawyers (Insolad).
